Advanced Instructions for Using
the Sony Digital Mavica Camera

1.      Changing the Mode Settings--CAMERA MODE

  1. In CAMERA mode, highlight and select MENU. 
  2. CLOCK SET is used to set the time and date.  See Instructions for Using the Sony Digital Mavica Camera for the First Time.
  3. BEEP can either be ON or OFF.  Highlight BEEP, and then press on the right side of the Control Button.  Highlight and select either ON or OFF.
  4. DISK TOOL can be used to either FORMAT a disk or COPY a disk.  Highlight and select DISK TOOL, then highlight and select FORMAT or DISK COPY.
  5. FILE NUMBER can either be NORMAL or SERIES.  NORMAL file numbering reset the file numbers if the floppy disk is changed.  SERIES file numbering will number the files in sequence even if the floppy disk is changed.
  6. FLASH LEVEL can be set to HIGH, NORMAL, or LOW.  Highlight FLASH LEVEL, and then press on the right side of the Control Button.  Highlight and select HIGH, NORMAL, or LOW.
  7. QUALITY can either be FINE or STANDARD.  Highlight QUALITY, and then press on the right side of the Control Button.  Highlight and select either FINE or STANDARD.  FINE quality produces better images, but take up more disk space.
  8. REC MODE can either be MULTI, BITMAP, E-MAIL, or NORMAL.  NORMAL images are 640x480 JPEG files.  E-MAIL images are 320x240 JPEG files.  BITMAP images are 640x480 BMP files; these are noncompressed.  Only one BMP file will fit on a floppy.  MULTI images are 960x720 JPEG files that are recorded continuously as one file.  The images can be played like an animated slide show.

2.      Changing the Mode Settings--PLAY MODE

  1. In PLAY mode, highlight and select MENU. 
  2. CLOCK SET is used to set the time and date.  See Instructions for Using the Sony Digital Mavica Camera for the First Time.
  3. BEEP can either be ON or OFF.  Highlight BEEP, and then press on the right side of the Control Button.  Highlight and select either ON or OFF.
  4. DISK TOOL can be used to either FORMAT a disk or COPY a disk.  Highlight and select DISK TOOL, then highlight and select FORMAT or DISK COPY.
  5. DELETE will erase an image from the floppy disk. 

In SINGLE screen mode (only one image showing), highlight and select DELETE; highlight and select OK. 

In INDEX screen mode, highlight and select DELETE.  Then, highlight and select either ALL (to erase all images) or SELECT to choose a particular image.  Press the top of the Control Button until a red arrow appears on the LCD screen.  Point the arrow to the image you wish to delete, then select.  This will highlight the number.  Then highlight ENTER (bottom left of LCD screen) and select and the images will be deleted.

  1. COPY will copy an image from one floppy disk to another. 

In SINGLE screen mode (only one image showing), highlight and select COPY; highlight and select OK.  CHANGE FLOPPY DISK will be displayed on the LCD screen.  Eject the floppy disk.  INSERT FLOPPY DISK will be displayed on the LCD screen.  Insert another floppy disk.  DISK ACCESS will be displayed until the image is copied.  Then COMPLETE is displayed.  To copy the image to another floppy disk, highlight and select CONTINUE and repeat the process.

        In INDEX screen mode, highlight and select COPY; highlight and select ALL (to copy all images) or SELECT (to choose particular images).  Highlight and select OK.  CHANGE FLOPPY DISK will be displayed on the LCD screen.  Eject the floppy disk.  INSERT FLOPPY DISK will be displayed on the LCD screen.  Insert another floppy disk.  DISK ACCESS will be displayed until the image is copied.  Then COMPLETE is displayed.  To copy the image to another floppy disk, highlight and select CONTINUE and repeat the process.

  1. PROTECT will keep an image from being deleted. 

In SINGLE screen mode (only one image showing), highlight and select PROTECT.  Press on the right side of the Control Button, highlight and select either ON or OFF.

In INDEX screen mode, highlight and select PROTECT.  Highlight and select ALL (to protect all images) or SELECT (to choose particular images).
