In preparation for a presentation to your business partners you will virtually visit at least four ballparks from each league.

Print out and complete the Baseball Operations Report for each of any eight ballparks you choose (four different parks in each league.) Next, average the data collected to determine your own new ballpark's specifications. Using this new information complete the Proposed Ballpark Specifications Report.

Additionally, you must create graphs representing the deepest point of each field and the amount of seating available in four of the parks you visited. Use graph paper to do the following:

    1. Make a pictograph comparing the seating capacity of the four ballparks and the calculated average seating capacity of those four ballparks.
    2. Make a bar graph comparing the distance of the deepest point on each of the four playing fields.
  • Include a title, labels, a key (if necessary) and your name.
  • Be sure that the graphs are neat, colorful, and easy to read.

Lastly, using your research notes and graphs, select which existing major league ballpark you think is the best overall. Write a one five paragraph paper giving your choice and three reasons for choosing that park. Use information from this project and any other information that you would wish to include (i.e. location, team, concession stands, etc.)

Director of Player Personnel

In anticipation of the upcoming expansion draft you are to prepare a position-by-position scouting report. To accomplish this you will need to evaluate position players (i.e. right-fielder, shortstop, catcher, etc.) and right- and left-handed pitchers from each league.

After initially analyzing the player statistical data from at least four different teams of each league, available from Major League Baseball, evaluate in detail stats for ten players of your choosing (eight position players, one right-handed pitcher, and one left-handed pitcher.) Print out and complete the Position Player Scouting Report and the Pitcher Scouting Report for the players you evaluate in detail. Sabermetrics - the mathematical and statistical analysis of baseball records will help you greatly.

From the your scouting reports, select one player for each of the ten positions. Print out and complete the Expansion Draft Report using the players selected. These last ten players are the players you feel will best help the new ball club.

Use graph paper to do the following:

    1. Make a pictograph comparing the batting averages of the top four players and the calculated combined batting average of all four players.
    2. Make a bar graph comparing the years of service of your final ten players and their calculated combined years of service average.
  • Include a title, labels, a key (if necessary) and your name.
  • Be sure that the graphs are neat, colorful, and easy to read.

Lastly, using your research notes and graphs, select which player you think is the best overall. Write a five paragraph paper giving your choice and three reasons for choosing that player. Use information from this project and any other information that you would wish to include (i.e. fielding stats, age & size, switch hitter, etc.)
