A Civil War WebQuest

You have been chosen from among your peers to cover for your newspaper a story so important in American history that what you write today may very well be read well into the next century.

There are six newspapers altogether.  Three papers are located in cities in the South, and three are from cities in the North. One paper from the North and one from the South will report on the early years of the conflict, 1861 to 1862. Another pair of papers has been selected to cover the war as it drags on into the years 1862 to 1864. The remaining two newspapers have the task of reporting the final hours of the war, 1864 to June of 1865.

Your job as reporters is to communicate, through your writing, a description of all aspects of life at that time. Your audience is the subscribers to your publication who live in the surrounding community. Follow your paper's front page header to receive your specific assignment and location from the Editor-in-Chief.
