Will
WebQuests work for us?
Imagine your class is ready to begin
a unit on persuasive writing. You have your students get with their
partner and sign onto the Internet. Directing them to a particular
website, they begin a WebQuest about... BUGS! Each child becomes a type of
bug (figuratively, of course). Before long the kids are involved in small
groups using the Internet, working on designing posters, and writing letters to
plead with Terminex to spare their lives, citing all of the arguments for and
against their existence. Your role is that of facilitator. You will
be free to move from one group of students to another as they follow the
guidelines and use the tools and information provided to them via the Internet.
This is an example of how a WebQuest can be used in the classroom.
